Client-Directed Care is a program offered by Alberta Health Services (AHS) that gives individuals greater flexibility, choice, and control over their home care services. Instead of receiving care directly from AHS staff, eligible clients can:
● Choose their preferred care provider, such as Comfort Keepers
● Schedule services at times that best fit their routines
● Receive care tailored to their individual needs
● Build strong, ongoing relationships with trusted caregivers
● Play an active role in directing and managing their care
To qualify, you must be approved for home care by Alberta Health Services. Start by calling Health Link at 811 and requesting a CDHC assessment. Speak to your case manager to switch from self-managed care to CDHC.
Once approved, you can select Comfort Keepers as your care provider. We’ll meet with you in your home to design a customized care plan and schedule that suits your lifestyle. From there, we’ll carefully match you with a professional caregiver aligned with your needs and preferences.
Comfort Keepers handles all billing directly with AHS through Alberta Blue Cross. That means no out-of-pocket expenses and no need to manage payroll, hiring, or insurance, giving you peace of mind without the administrative burden of Self-Managed Care.
