Employer of the Year Award Criteria:
The 2018 Goodwill Employer of the Year was presented on May 24 by Michelle Quintyn, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries and John Griffiths, Director, Workforce Development, Employment Services and Training. The award recipient was Kevin Rath, Client Care Manager and Administrator of Comfort Keepers London. While presenting the award, John Griffiths had the following to say:
“The Employer of the Year Award is given to an employer who has hired a Goodwill client, who inspires clients toward independence and advancement in the workplace, and who has contributed to the advancement of the Goodwill mission.
We are fortunate to enjoy many outstanding relationships with employers, but some employers really stand out. There are 2 Employer finalists, both of which have contributed tremendously to our mission and I am so glad that they are here tonight, to celebrate with us – and to be celebrated.
Our Employer finalists are:
Comfort Keepers
&
PetValu (K W. Merrit Inc.)
And the 2018 Goodwill Employer of the Year is……Comfort Keepers!
Over the past year Kevin Rath and his team from Comfort Keepers has gone above and beyond the role of an employer. Kevin has been hosting interviews regularly at our Career Centre and provides feedback to our job coaches and facilitators. Comfort Keepers has hired 4 jobseekers over the last 6 months and one of these individuals credits her newly found self-confidence with her position as a Companion Worker. Most of these individuals faced barriers to employment but they reported that Comfort Keepers treated them with dignity and respect and gave them the opportunity to learn and advance at work.
Thank you Comfort Keepers for changing lives and our community through the power of work!
Kevin Rath, please come forward to receive the award on behalf of Comfort Keepers.”
