Introduction

Our mission, at Compassionate Care Health Services Inc. dba Comfort Keepers Orangeville, is to provide the highest level of quality of life that is achievable. We shall treat each of our clients, our community partners, and our employees with the respect and dignity they deserve. As such, we are committed to supporting, understanding and learning from those we interact with.

Accessibility Principles

Our Company takes the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) seriously and works to comply with all standards and legislation. In doing so, we are committed to aligning with those standards to ensure we are accessible to all people with disabilities.

Our principles include:

  • Creating policies and procedures that keep people with disabilities in mind
  • Being open to new ideas, technologies and practices that are inclusive and supportive of those with disabilities
  • Promoting a healthy working environment by removing boundaries so those with disabilities are able to fully participate and thrive
  • Listen and learn from feedback we receive from the public, and our employees, on how we can improve
  • Maintain a living five (5) year plan in accordance with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), that is formally reviewed and updated annually and available to all persons in a variety of accessible formats

  • Completion of IASR policy and posted to our employee portal
  • Completion of Accessibility policy (the Plan) and posted to our employee portal
  • File an updated Accessibility Compliance Report
  • Update job postings to include a statement of support and accommodation for those with disabilities
  • Ensuring our office space conforms to accessibility standards

 

January 2024

  • Begin training to all staff on the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), AODA and IASR with a goal to complete training by December 31, 2024
  • Notify employees of our commitment to Accessibility standards and practices and where they can find documents relating to this by January 31, 2024
  • Make our internet website and web content accessible by conforming to World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 compliant at AA level by December 31, 2024
  • Creation of a disaster and emergency preparedness plan which includes special attention to those with disabilities and post on our employee portal and made available to the public upon request by December 31, 2024
  • Create policies that focus on supporting employees, community partners and clients on:
    • Accommodation plans for employees by March 31, 2024
    • Implementation of new technologies like software and self-serve kiosks by July 31, 2024
  • Post the Plan on our website by December 31, 2024 – Completed
  • Review and post updates of the Plan to our employee portal and website by December 31, 2024 – Completed
  • File an updated Accessibility Compliance Report – December 2024

January 2025

  • Review and post feedback on our IASR policy and the Plan to our employee portal and website by January 31, 2025
  • File an updated Accessibility Compliance Report – December 2025
  • Update all existing policies to an Accessible electronic format by April 30, 2025
