What Seniors and Their Families Are Saying About Comfort Keepers®

More and more seniors today want to continue living in the comfort of their own home as they age. Many have had this desire fulfilled beyond their expectations with the exceptional, compassionate in-home caregiving services of Comfort Keepers. Following are just a few examples of the comments we receive every day from satisfied seniors and their families.

“Comfort Keepers has been incredible to work with…”

Time doesn’t stand still for anyone, and as we get older, so do our parents. Along with their inevitable aging come health issues.

Having been raised in a culture where we took care of our older generation, it seemed natural when my father had a stroke to welcome him into our home to help him during his recovery.

Our first experience with a care provider was very negative. We were continually sent different PSW’s who seemed to have very little interest in my dad’s well being, but much interest in getting out as quickly as possible. The provider was also not able to provide the support multiple times per day that my dad required.

After the negative experiences and inadequate availability, we were able to have Orangeville’s Comfort Keepers become my dad’s care provider. I can’t say enough positive things about the experience we have had. Each of the PSW’s who provide care to my dad have been professional, and have worked hard to help him in his recovery.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Comfort Keepers has been incredible to work with. They’ve kept open and honest lines of communication with us, and continually go above and beyond to help not only my dad, but our most vulnerable community members as evidenced by their free grocery shopping service in Orangeville.

It’s important to feel like your family member is being cared for with compassion, dignity, and competence. Comfort Keepers has exceeded our expectations in this regard, and have become more like family than service providers.

We know that if we’re out and Comfort Keepers are at our home, dad is in good hands. Who better to care for someone than family?

“Our family will always be grateful…”

Our family was with Comfort Keepers for the past three years. The office staff was always friendly and always tried to schedule to accommodate our Mom’s needs. The PSW’s were very patient and did their best to look after the needs of Mom, keep her comfortable, happy and have someone to talk to or watch a favourite show with. Lean was the PSW that our Mom enjoyed and relied on the most. Lean looked after her every need and would even do things before Mom could ask. Lean, Comfort Keepers and staff allowed my mother to be able to stay in her home until she passed which was her greatest wish. Our family will always be grateful to Lori & the Comfort Keeper staff and most of all the PSW’s. We would not hesitate to recommend them to other people in need of their services.

“We would recommend Comfort Keepers to anyone in need of these services…”

We live a little distance away and we felt a great comfort knowing that our Mother was been looked after. They provided her with meals personal care each day. The staff were all great and Josephine in particular seemed to always be so cheerful. The communication book was so helpful so that we all could review Helen’s daily routine & we had a schedule of the visits so it helped us to know when to phone (we called every day) without disturbing the scheduled visits. We would recommend Comfort Keepers to anyone in need of these services. Thank you to all the staff for helping Helen stay in her home as long as possible. Much appreciated.

“Our experience with Comfort Keepers Home Care in Orangeville…”

While seeking home care for my mother, Comfort Keepers name was suggested to me. I am very glad that it was.

On first conversation, the office staff listened to what I was looking for. They seemed to understand the challenges my mother’s advanced dementia presented. After a few interviews, we found the perfect Personal Support Worker to care for Mom.

Whenever contacting the office for schedule adjustments, personnel are always warm, helpful and professional.

I would definitely recommend Comfort Keepers to anyone in need of home care.

“…Caring people who are doing their absolute best to support us…”

We have been using Comfort Keepers for the past year to assist with the care of my father who has dementia and is immobile and incontinent.

From the front office staff to the PSW’s, we have only encountered caring people who are doing their absolute best to support us.

Whether it was working to find the right personality fit for my father or adjusting to our constantly changing schedule, Comfort Keepers has always responded positively even when the changes were last minute or possibly difficult to meet. Communication has been clear and the staff always polite and friendly.

We highly recommend Comfort Keepers but more than that, we are so grateful.

The McDonald Family

“…why Comfort Keepers are such a blessing…”

The job of caregiver is not an easy one. If you don’t believe this statement, just ask anyone who has ever had the task of looking after someone they love and care for during their time of need. That is why Comfort Keepers are such a blessing. They lovingly help to relieve the strain and hardships which caregivers experience on a daily basis.

When my Dad took ill this past spring, my family and I found ourselves in the challenging situation of caring for him 24/7. We took turns and we did our best, but at times it was difficult. The situation improved, however, when Comfort Keepers stepped in to help.

This Comfort Keeper proved to be a God-send to myself and my family. When our Comfort Keeper showed up to help us, it was evident that she had a great deal of compassion towards the people that she serves and it was very clear that she loves her job! She was very kind and attentive and she showed sincere interest in my Dad’s well-being. And, although he himself was not well and could not easily express his feelings at the time, I know for sure that my Dad also very much appreciated her kindness and graciousness.

We will be forever grateful to Comfort Keepers and in particular, this wonderful lady for helping to make a difficult situation the best it could be.

The Schmidt Family

“…The Best and Most Trusted…”

I am very pleased that I chose Comfort Keepers. Their commitment to client care and integrity of their staff make families of loved ones completely at ease knowing that they are being looked after the way a family member would look after them.

In essence, I am happy to say that Comfort Keepers are our “extended family.” I would highly recommend Comfort Keepers to anyone who asks for in-home care as they are, in my opinion, the best and most trusted in their field.

Barbara S., Comfort Keepers Client

“…Extremely Happy…”

I have been extremely happy with the services provided by Comfort Keepers, Oakville Office. Their staff is well trained, carefully screened for honesty, caring, efficiency and ability. They are very punctual and reliable and fit in with my lifestyle. The managers care a lot about your happiness and contentment.

Rosemary R., Comfort Keepers Client

“…Caring and Professional…”

From the initial phone contact when I spoke to Janet through to the care providers, I found Comfort Keepers to be a caring and professional service.

You demonstrated your patience and concern for my mother’s situation, and you were open to feedback.

Josi P., Comfort Keepers Client

“…Genuine Concern and Compassion…”

Our family has relied on Lori and the Comfort Keepers staff to provide care for loved ones for five years. Lori and her staff have demonstrated a genuine concern and compassion for those that they care for and their families. Lori can be counted on to deliver the support and care requested. Comfort Keepers has lived up to their name and been a great resource to our family.

“…We Feel a Constant Sense of Security…”

Lori and her staff have been wonderful to my father, and have also provided tremendous support to our family. This has enabled my father to stay at home. We feel a constant sense of security while they care for Dad.

M.A., Toronto, Ontario

“…Exceeded my Expectations…”

Hi Lori,

I wanted to send a few words your way regarding the service you and your staff provided to my parents when we were all in a bit of a crisis. We needed care a.s.a.p. I made the first call to Comfort Keepers late in the evening. Not only was it returned immediately, you found someone to come in the next morning.

WOW! A couple of things after that which exceeded my expectations… your staff made follow up calls to see if everything was going well, you had a staff member visit with my parents to ensure they were comfortable with the care giver, you provided the same care giver time and time again to reduce confusion.

I spoke with many staff members on the phone when calling in and each and every one of them was courteous, caring and extremely helpful. Thank you for making my job of “care giver” a much, much easier one.

Keep up the good work!

Cheryl M.

“No other group gave me the support of a well organized staff and an on-going educational program essential for the development of a well informed and equipped caregiver.  Comfort Keepers’ mission and vision translates to a true desire for each of their employees to utilize their training, talents and experiences for success.

This success translates into our providing clients with exceptional food preparation, cleaning, and so on… but most importantly, providing an environment of compassionate care, safety, and happiness as they age with dignity.

There is no greater satisfaction than to see someone’s life improve because of the joint efforts of you and your co-caregivers!”

“I was born to be a caregiver… I choose to be a Comfort Keeper.”

“Comfort Keepers is different from any other place I have worked.  In the six plus years that I have been employed at Comfort Keepers, I have come to know that it is truly a company that cares for its employees and clients.  The other places I have worked are task oriented, but Comfort Keepers is relationship oriented.  Even our mission statement is different, to treat each of our clients with the respect and dignity they deserve, as though we are caring for a member of our own family.”

“I became a Comfort Keeper so I can help give the elderly the respect and care they deserve.  I enjoy seeing their faces when they achieve something new or do something that they didn’t think they would ever do again.

Being a Comfort Keeper lets me do the things with my clients that other places are not able to do on a one-on-one basis.  It is very important to our clients that they know someone is there to help them and to listen to what they have to say.”

“I am extremely honored to be chosen as the Northeast Region Comfort Keeper of the Year. It is a mark of distinction I did not expect, but one that I am extremely proud of. I simply try to make my client’s day a bit more enjoyable. I never considered working at Comfort Keepers as job but rather my way of helping someone less fortunate than me.”

“After meeting my fellow regional winners today, it is a privilege just to be in their company. Any one of them will make a great “Comfort Keeper of the Year.”

“To me, being a Comfort Keeper means doing what I love –where I can demonstrate the values of life that I strongly believe in.  I believe all people should be treated with honor, dignity and respect regardless of their circumstances. “I enjoy the warm feelings I get from my clients after a shift.  They look forward to my visit with them because sometimes I am the light of their day. I can leave a shift with tears in my eyes from the appreciation of my dementia client or with pride when the ones who are able, get their wings and begin to take care of themselves once again.”

“I enjoy working for an employer where the employees are as important as the clients.  Comfort Keepers provides valuable training and supportive office staff.  As one past award winner said, “Clients leave a footprint in your heart.”

“I chose to become a Comfort Keeper because I wanted a rewarding career. Being a Comfort Keeper has given my life worth and has made me a better person, which in turn I can give back to them.  I am helping my clients, but the truth is that they are helping ME!”

“I am rewarded daily as I see my clients smile when I come to their homes and make their time more valuable as a senior. I truly enjoy when I see my clients faces light up when I tend to their needs, as I would my own parents or family members.

Seniors need to feel valued at this time of their life and want someone to listen to their life’s great stories, which we can all learn by. Knowing you improved someone’s life is so invaluable. I love being a Comfort Keeper!”
