Free Virtually Hosted Events are a community service offered by your local Comfort Keepers® to respond to the social interaction challenges for seniors during COVID-19.

Free Virtually Hosted Events for Fighting Isolation

COVID-19-related isolation can take a toll on seniors’ mental and physical health. It’s important to remember that there are things we can all do to foster connection, hope, purpose, and support for seniors during this difficult time. Families, caregivers, and health professionals can work together to facilitate activities they love, follow the self-isolation recommendations of health agencies, and maintain positive mental health.

The Virtually Hosted Events are safe alternatives to in-person activities normally offered by senior residences and activity centers. Participants can interact with their friends and/or family from the safety of their rooms or homes. These structured social events are hosted remotely and exclusively for you by our event host, Emily.

Free Virtually Hosted Events – What’s On!

Comfort Keepers® is now offering Retirement Communities and Senior Centres several virtual events at no cost to the host venue;

• Bingo
• Guided Meditation
• Music Trivia
• Book Club
• Tours of famous museums, tourist destinations, and historical events

To participate in our Virtual events, simply call us to schedule one-time or recurring sessions and pick your preferred events. Sign up interested participants (3 to 10 per session), and where necessary, seek consent from the family. Download Zoom onto the device the participants will be using, and to join the event, click on the Zoom link we will email you. Place tablets in front of each participant or resident in their own room or designated areas. Activity coordinators or family members are welcome to join and observe as our Event Host, Emily, conducts the events. Each session is usually 30 to 45 minutes long.

Emily is also available to host in-person versions of these events at Retirement Communities and Senior Centres where social-distancing requirements set by the provincial government can be met.
