Peter Drutz

President

Prior to beginning with Comfort KeepersĀ®, Peter Drutz had extensive general management experience including being Executive Vice President, Retail with Indigo Books and Music Inc., and President of OutThink, Inc. a marketing and strategy firm. Before that, he was with Amex Canada, Inc. for close to 20 years, where he held progressively responsible positions including Vice President and General Manager of the Travel Services Network which included management of the Amex franchised network.

Peter has an MBA in Marketing and General Management from York University, an Honours BA in Social Sciences and a Certificate in Personnel and Industrial Relations, both from the University of Toronto.

In addition to his overall leadership role, Peterā€™s prime focus includes new franchise development, national partnerships as well as corporate development. He is not involved in Quebec.

Laurie Saunders

Vice President, Operations and Marketing

Laurie Saunders launched Comfort KeepersĀ® in Canada in 2004 and is proud of the team we have built across Canada and the wonderful difference we are making in peopleā€™s lives.

Before bringing Comfort Keepers to Canada, Laurie was President of Mirbecca Holdings, an information management firm. She has also worked as a business and information consultant for a variety of industries as well as spending twenty years in public sector library management.

She has co-authored a book on ovarian cancer which won the Health Care Public Relations Association (Canada) HYGEIA Award.

Laurie has a Masters of Library and Information Services and a MA in History from the University of Toronto.

Laurieā€™s overall responsibilities include sales and marketing, training and the development of operational and client management policies and procedures.

Susan Parker

Director of Corporate Operations

In addition to her role as the Director of Corporate Operations, Susan is also our National Director of Nursing Practice.Ā  In this role she works with our Franchisees to ensure client facing staff are provided with the education and decision support to enable them to provide the best care for clients and families.Ā  Having nursed in a variety of settings and following 10 years with the LHIN directing the palliative care portfolio, Susan joined the Comfort Keepers family in 2018.

Susan is a Registered Nurse in Ontario.Ā  She holds a B.Sc. from the University of Victoria, is Green Belt certified in Lean Six Sigma and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business.

Michael Mutsaerts

Director Franchise Development

Mr. Mutsaerts joined Comfort Keepers on December 15th, 2020. Previously, Mutsaerts held similar positions with Expedia as Vice President of Franchise Partnerships from September 2002 to September 2016. He has also held volunteer positions with the Canadian Franchise Association as Pacific Council member and continues to be an active participant on their Education committee and Mentorship programs. Mr. Mutsaerts holds Diplomas in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from BCIT. He is also the principle and President of MLJ Franchise Success Ltd. since September 2016.

Neda S. McGuire, MHA

Gerontologist & Business Coach

Neda McGuire is a Gerontologist and End of Life Doula.Ā  Her passion to help and care for others guided her to healthcare. She has been in the healthcare field for over 30 years assisting many families and their loved ones through healthcare and aging journeys.Ā  Neda has a Masterā€™s in Gerontology and a Masters in Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia.

She owned a Comfort Keepers franchise in Virginia for over fourteen years and is currently a business coach to the Canadian Comfort Keepers franchisees.Ā 

Neda is a Rotarian and honored to help the community through Rotaryā€™s mission of service. She has also been a hospice volunteer, assisting patients and families during this sacred journey.Ā  She is a past board member of the Alzheimerā€™s Association and former CEO of the non-profit organization of Partners in Aging in Fredericksburg.Ā Ā Ā 

Being a daughter to her parents, mother of two daughters, wife to her husband and a sister are the titles she cherishes most.

Stacey Vassos

Director of Franchise Quality Assurance & Compliance

Prior to joining Comfort Keepers, Stacey spent the early part of her career in Banking and Technology Solutions.Ā  After experiencing for herself the challenges involved in caring for a senior loved one, in 2012, Stacey purchased a Comfort Keepers franchise and was honored to serve seniors and their families for several years. In 2014 she joined the Canadian CK corporate office in a management role and in 2018 was promoted to the Director of Franchise Quality Assurance & Compliance.

Ā Her role entails many functions such as supporting franchisees throughout their tenure with Comfort Keepers, beginning with new owner training, ongoing support, and site visits.Ā  She also ensures that franchisees are compliant with all required submissions, and is responsible for the Comfort Keepers Accreditation program, where she has successfully shepherded franchisees through 4 successful accreditation surveys for Primer and Qmentum Accreditation cycles with Accreditation Canada.Ā 

Stacey has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Brock University) and a Master of Business Administration (Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University).Ā  She has served as a Board member for several community and charitable organizations and is an active volunteer with the Provincial Womenā€™s Softball Associations for the past 15 years.Ā  She loves spending time with her family, reading, and crocheting.
