Home exterior checklist:

• Install weather strips and caulk the windows
• Seal any holes that might create the draft
• Insulate pipes
• Purchase all the de-icing equipment, as well as ice-melt salt

Emergency checklist:

• Create a stash of bottled water and canned foods
• Purchase a set of batteries and/or power bank
• Make sure there are some matches, lighters, and flashlights in the senior’s home
